Lake Herman Road, Benicia, California 1968

On December the 20th 1968, David Faraday 17 and his new girlfriend Betty Lou Jenson 16 had been on their first date after meeting 2 weeks previous at their local church in Vallejo. Their bodies were found by a passer by who spotted the car at Lake Herman Road, Bernicia with the young couple lying on the roadside in a spot that was known as a Lovers Lane.

Betty was found lying on the ground, face down in a pool of blood, she had been shot 5 times to the back and chest. It was believed that Betty had tried to run from the gunman, David was found near the door of the car also shot 5 times, 2 to the ear and head and 3 to the body. The Gunman had used a 22 calibre gun, some of the shell casings lay around the scene.

The Police could find no motive for the killing as there were no signs of robbery or sexual assault appearing to be a random case of senseless violence. Thinking they would soom catch the killer, police looked into a number of different avenues but years later the crime would remain unsolved.
