Looking through the original Police Reports regarding the Zodiac KIller's crimes is one of the best ways I feel to get to grips with this case. No matter how many times I have read them I seem to find something new to look into which is why I want to introduce Neteorology to you. I imagine like me you are thinking, you sure you don't mean Meteorology? and yes that appears to be the case, lol, my mistake and the FBI report having a mispelling which was kindly pointed out by Tom Voight, thanks Tom.
Meteorology has a lot to do with Weather and the Climate and covers areas such as wind speed, cloud movements etc, not a subject many need to know about which could be something at last that we can definitely say about Zodiac which is, he was an Airman. Whether he was in the United States Air Force or knew how to fly himself like many do in the United States, flying small planes around the country, Zodiac knew all about Weather patterns.
Looking at the Meteorological charts on the websites mentioned, something intriguing caught my eye. As many of you know I had been looking over old maps of Paradise in California and whilst looking at all the sites I had in front of me which I will give you details of, I began piecing together what could possibly be the strange symbol Zodiac left us on the Halloween Card. I also found a symbol which may give us another clue to Zodiac's method of thinking regarding what is usually referred to as the 8 ball which is a symbol of Zodiac's including a circle with what appears to be an 8 in the center which can be seen in the Z13 code.
I will pop up a photograph of Zodiac's symbol drawn on the Halloween Card so it's easier to look at against the symbols I will show you. The first symbol on the map I had started looking at was on the old map of paradise and was shaped like a Y but with a kind of curved v section. It took me some time but I eventually found out it represented a mine tunnel or cave opening, it had bugged me for ages lol as it had a similar top to the ranch style branding often associated with this case and the symbol was in places where there was no name attached.
It was while looking at the map icons I noticed others which got me thinking. You can view the mine symbol here Topographic Map Symbols (usgs.gov) it is rather small but you can see them clearly on the maps of paradise below.
So I was going back and forth with the maps and the Meteorology when I came across this site on how to read the symbols and colours of the Weather. It's not until you see how the symbol is used to show the direction of wind that you can see the resemblance in Zodiac's code. Check out the webpage below by clicking on the link. If you see the center row of the table below under CM you will find the 2 symbols Zodiac used in No 1 & 2
From what I managed to understand is that the Symbol CM1 represents clouds that are thin, semitransparent. I also learned this symbol represents 10 knots and can mean Rising then Falling. CM2 is the F like symbol which means a thick layer of clouds covers the sun or moon, it is also used to show Wind Speed and 20 knots.
If you check the above website you will see another chart which shows more weather symbols and there are dots which represent rainfall, where 4 dots represent continuous heavy rain. Is Zodiac possibly giving us a Map? this made me think of the mine symbols I had been looking at so went on the hunt when some old treasure maps came up on one of my searches a Japanese treasure map. The Japanese Symbol below comes from Tanaka Detachment, the Japanese Imperial Army led by Colonel Tanaka Toru who is said to have buried many treasures during World War II, it's very much like the Zodiac's strange cipher too, the symbol represents a Diamond which doesn't make much sense now but I'll come back to that. Also note that the Z on the Japanese treasure map represents Stairs, I was now starting to think that Zodiac was giving us a map of some sort sort so on I went looking at map icons.
Zodiac has put his famous cipher after the Z and looking through all the map symbols the circle with cross within represents the Principal Point. Is Zodiac giving us instructions to go somewhere?
The above symbols have many references and I've looked into runes, occult etc but it seems to make much more sense looking at it from the Airman's approach for example : in that it was raining heavy and the clouds were thick during the time he committed his crimes, near a mountain, there are stairs. The upside down L above, on an old treasure map can mean to proceed digging, dots can also represent burial sites on maps which brings me back to the Diamond.
The Japanese sign for Diamond rang a bell with me as I knew there was a place near Paradise called the Black Diamond Mine. It can be seen on the old map of Paradise though I have no idea if this mine still lies open or if it is gone now. I had a look on google earth but I'm kinda hopeless on the map orientation so hopefully someone out there can maybe put this into a better context than I can. Could the Black Diamond Mine be the site Zodiac was mapping out in code? I now think that the Halloween Card was possibly saying he had already killed 9 people represented by the Eyes on the tree and was now adding 4 Teens to his number, the four eyes, the four dots,
4-teens which added make 13 people Zodiac has killed by October 27th 1970.
The one final symbol I'd like to go into is from Zodiac's Z13 Cipher My Name Is, if it's right I'm not sure what, if anything it could tell us about Zodiac but feel it worth mentioning incase it can shake something loose. The 8 Ball which you see below in Zodiac's letter is very similar to the map icon for a Pipeline: Control Valve. I know the sites at Lake Herman Road and Blue Rock Springs were near Water Stations, was it just another nugget of confirmation that only Zodiac might know or was he telling us he could control his urge to kill? did he have a control valve that he could turn off and on? or was he directing/misdirecting us to think he possibly worked for the waterworks.
I firmly believe Zodiac's Identity can still be uncovered by looking at the facts and the FBI mention Neteorology/Meteorology in the CA DOJ special report, page 7 of 10 on the website Zodiackillerfacts.com if you'd like to check it out.
That Zodiac is still an enigma today as he is now and its possible that's how he wanted it to stay but I live in hope that his name will be revealed. He may have let something slip, we know Zodiac thought himself superior but even geniuses can make mistakes.
I have tried to lay out the best I can my journey researching the Zodiac crimes and how I am coming to my conclusions. It has been around a year now I have been blogging about the Golden State Killer and Zodiac. I have read and reread so much material which you can find on my bibliography page and now find myself thinking not of Joseph James DeAngelo but a new suspect I have, who is taking over the more I research. As of yet though Joseph James DeAngelo did have flight experience and often worked on model planes with his father in law so can't be ruled out either. A great piece of advice I recently had from a reddit user was to try and rule my suspect out and so far I've not been able to do that with either, so on I go.
